Crabs, Chocolate, and Buttholes

I had a squealin' good time last night.

Book Club with the Book Babes at Pala Indian Casino.  At the buffet. At the buffet with crab, shrimp, salads, Mexican food, pizza, sandwich bar, steak, Asian food, soups.....

and, of course, dessert.

Cheese cake dipped in chocolate and then rolled in chocolate flakes with a lollipop stick.  Espresso cups with a chocolate covered coffee bean in a chocolate cup with edible gold leaf. Little pecan pies.  Little espresso cups with tira misu in it. They had TWO chocolate fountains with dark chocolate and white chocolate, which on my first go round at the desserts, I totally missed seeing. And they were about three and a half feet tall. Sheesh. Cookies. Cakes. Banana splits. Ice cream. Peach cobbler. Bread pudding (whatever that is).

Oh, they also had flan. You know, that snot on a plate stuff. Yuck. Almost as bad as oysters (which they had, too). Feels like a booger going down. Not that I know what that is like.

Oh, yes, we had dinner, too. Debbie and her hubby go for the crab when they can, so she knows the buffet well.  Chocolate Lover and Debbie brought back big plates covered with crab legs and a nut cracker type thing to help eat it. Man, and BFF thinks eating chicken wings is a lot of work~! HA! They were working for their food. Chocolate Lover said it helped burn calories so she could eat more chocolate.

On my first plate, I got a salad. A plain salad. BFF gave me an F. I failed buffet? Do I get extra credit for devouring my weight in desserts?

When we weren't talking about food, they were talking about dogs. Thia Karen told me if I wanted to meet men, I need to bring Indy to the dog park. She said there is a man there with kind of long hair in a pony tail. I am such a product of my time that I still like men with long hair. She said he has a nice dog who is named Indy after Indiana Jones. I looked at her in amazement. Are you kidding? You mean like my daughter's poop master, Indy? He is also named after Indiana Jones. She totally forgot about that.

A match made in heaven perhaps? Wouldn't it be ironic if I meet a man though my dogs?

We signed up for the Pala card so we could get $5 off the buffet and with the card you could play a machine for free. We each got one play. You picked five little piggies and they climbed this ladder and jumped into a pile of mud. I hope it was mud. When they jump, they made the weirdest noise. If they landed and did not "find" money they stayed with their piggy butts sticking up out of the mud with their little piggy tails looking all curly Q like. Sometimes they would come up from the mud with fists of cash.

All I got was five buttholes sticking up in the air.

I like book club. The next meeting is the Christmas cookie exchange at Debbie's house. More desserts!!

Oh, yeah, we each get to pick our own book to read and do a book report on.

Homework?!!  I may do it at the dog park...and say the dog ate it.

Homework?!? I thought I was done with that. Then I had children. WTF? I mean really. It blows.

I love dessert too. Isn't dessert like the whole point of the meal? The meal is foreplay as far as I am concerned. I am just here for the climatic end. :D

""Bread pudding (whatever that is). ""

In England it is called Spotted Dick... one of my favorites, especially when made with older ingredients.

I'm not being very helpful am I.

So what book will you read? Your book club sounds ALOT more fun than most.

Leave it to @eloh to discuss bread pudding (Spotted Dick = haha) without telling you it's yukky.
It's an old people's dessert, a recycling of dry bread that results in something you can consume without teeth.
I'm embarrassed to have such knowledge. Even I won't eat that crap.
You definitely get an A++ in desserts. Stick with what you know.

@adrienzgirl...I read once that you shouldn't let dinner spoil your dessert...I've always liked that idea! Homework was such a drag when my girls were little. Now it's college homework and I can feign ignorance. Yes!

@karen carter...What a fun night! I am so glad that drive is a short one home though. I fully expected my innards to embarrass me on the way home, but they behaved somewhat. Can't wait to read your version of the night!

@eloh...Spotted Dick? I did not know they could get old age spots. Learn something new every day. Wait! Housewife says it is gross. The way she describes it, it sounds like my arch nemesis flan. Maybe it's right up there with chipped beef on toast. Next time we go, I will try a little bit of it just to say I ate a Spotted Dick.

@dual mom...I know, I have to pick a book. I am re-reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon but that's cheating. Ummmm...something Christmasy I guess. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

@secretia...You know the sad part of the night, after consuming enough calories for 2 days, is that I still got hungry the next day. So unfair. Why can't your body say, hey, thanks for all the extra, no need to eat for a while? Science better get cracking on that.

@housewife savant...It did look yukky which is why I did not try it, that and my plate was already loaded with desserts. I meant to go back and try a little bit but I was feeling like Jabba the Hutt at that point. Thanks for the A++. At least my GPA at buffets will be a passing grade of C. I wonder what a dunce hat for buffet eating would look like?

The joy of bread pudding is that since it became trendy again, many places serve it with a whiskey hard sauce. And anything that combines dessert with alcohol is on my 'Yes, yes, oh God, yes' list.

Which is also one of the things I like about flan, when it comes with vanilla liqueur at my favorite Mexican restaurant.

And tiramisu, ladies fingers soaked in rum.

Because otherwise, I'm generally not a dessert person.

@elliott...in so many ways, you are a man after my on heart. But I still will not go near flan. Just watching jiggle on the plate was enough to make me look away. I think I'm getting weirder as I get older. You know, until I met Chocolate Lover, I was not even a chocolate person, much less desserts. She totally got me hooked.

@tattoos and teething rings...It was a thing of beauty let me tell you. Although the girl behind the counter was a snot. I may need to write a post on that!

@funderson...I love Vegas and the food. When we go, we go from meal to meal and sit around the pool and get drunk and go to shows. Have fun in Vegas and make sure to visit the chocolate fountain in the Bellagio~!

Oh my gosh, I am on a seriously strict diet. So I can be fitted for a kilt in the spring. I have even been limiting my usual sugar free stuff. But I so want that cheesecake.

I have a skinny friend who always grazes the desserts first than if she has any room left she might eat something. That chocolate plate has the farm chick salivating. I'd better back away from the computer!!!

Ya'll have a super blessed day!!!

That cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate flakes made my mouth water. Now all I can think about are the yummy things you have discussed to wonderfully in this post. Mmmm...

To die for!
Disneyworld has a dessert party, which, I am proud to say, I passed up..Partly because of the price ($23) and partly because Hubby is diabetic. Either way, it probably saved me from having to spend my last Disney days in a sugar-induced coma.
I always knew there was reason I didn't like bread pudding. I don't care if it's spotted, striped, or polka-dotted, I ain't eatin' NUTHIN' called dick!

The desserts are just mouth watering,i will have to rummage through the cupboard to find some chocolate now, diet will have to be put on hold after reading this.
NB--spotted dick is a suet pudding-steamed in boiling water, you love it or hate it. Bread pudding is baked in the oven, made from bread, milk, cream, eggs, butter and optional dried fruit,at least. that is the Irish interpretation. Really enjoyed your delicious post.
