If You Have a Bucket, I Have a Tune

I truly cannot carry a tune. I hum off key. The shower runs in terror when I hop in.

But I love these guys. Just belting out this song.

I live in trepidation for the day I get snockered enough to do karaoke...I know it will end up on YouTube. I will end up like this lady.

Yes, yes, I know I will.

I went looking for a nice sweet video on YouTube about grandmas and grandsons so I could prattle on about my grandson turning 2 on March 1st.

Look, it's hard enough to BE a grandma when I look in the mirror and I don't SEE a grandma. I don't have gray hair. I don't wear house dresses all day. (Shut up. Sweats don't count.) My hair is not in a bun. You might starve to death in my house because I hardly ever cook.

This is me as the mother of the bride. Okay, so I look like I'm already out to lunch and the wedding had not even started. My oldest daughter, the Hot Tamale, is the bride, and Teddy Bear, my youngest is third from the left.

But HT made me a grandma...and she is due again in June. I am on a hunt for a name still. My mom is Grandma, so it gets confusing when we are all together.

Well, I get to baby-sit tonight. Little Z doesn't really talk yet, so I have a chance to pick a name for myself and persuade him to call me that.

I won't be singing Little Z to sleep tonight because I'm sure then he would think up a good name to call me.

I could be Granny Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........

First of all, love the singing hooligans.
Second, "MammaKat" might get a vote or two.
Thirdly, My Mother was debilitated by Parkinsons before my Sister's son came along. To differentiate between her and his other Gran, who still swam in the ocean, was captain of the local gliding club and taught keep fit in her eighties, he called them Fast Granny and Slow Granny. As long as they don't start calling you Slow Granny you're way ahead of the game!

Well my daughter calls my mom mamaw, and her dad's mom Grandma. Her step grandma is nana. Lots of names to use!

I can't sing a lick either. ;P

My wife is MeMaw. The grandkids call my MIL (Dot) Granny Dot. Sounds like she ought to be in CATS.

Ok, first--I don't even swing that way...but damn girl, you look amazing! (the granny robot thing does NOT apply!) As far as the name, hmmmm....I've a neighbor who goes by "Lulu" to her grandkids. (her name is Nancy?) To hear her little guys walk around saying, "My Lulu says I can do...." makes me smile. "GranBella?" Lol....dag, this is harder than I thought--as long as they're swamped in love, right?

My grandkids are going to call me Poppa Tom and my wife Mother Teresa. But I like Gramsy, Bamma, Nonny, Kooma and Mumsie as grandma nicknames. Great videos! I can't believe granny getting all jiggy like that. Hilarious.

By the way, you are gorgeous! You are right, you're not grandma material at all. Far from it!

The guys singing is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. :)
I can't imagine being a grandmother. I'd hate to go to bed with a grandfather every night! :D

You look youthful and gorgeous in that picture! Me? I have so much gray hair at 42 that when I take my 4 year old daughter out shopping, people ask if she's my GRAND daughter. Nice, huh?

I don't have gray hair either!
And I can't carry a tune either.

I don't look forward to being a grandparent any time soon, though odds run against me in these sorts of scenarios. It doesn't matter that you're a grandmother, you sure don't look it.

And the bridesmaid on the far right? Makes the picture.

I was 21 when I made my mom a grandma, and I don't think she was ready to be called "grandma" either, but it's what we all settled on eventually. Of course, her parents are both gone, so there was no competition for the title. I'm really not helping, am I?

I am so glad your bloggers can see how beautiful you are! And even more so with your amazing laugh and smile! Enjoy your night tonight with the grandson and pick a fun name. I love "G-Ma" that's what my friends kids call their grandma and its so hip {like you} At first I thought the lady dancing was me but then I saw the red hair and thought "whew" But that is so me! Have fun!

I had it easy with my daughter's kids - since she adopted them from Russia, they call me Babushka! Other grandkids call me Grandma and Grandma Sandi. I love the lady dancing - how great to have the kind of attitude that you do what feels good and don't care if people see you. I would only dance like that in my living room with the curtains closed.

I, like you, don't think I look like your typical Grandma, but I, like you, love being a Grandma. My grandsons call me Nina (my real first name) because as babies starting to talk they couldn't pronounce Grandma and heard everyone else calling me Nina, so that's what they call me. Fine with me. Their parents are now trying to get them to call me Grandma Nina since they can now pronouce it, but it's still easier just to go with Nina. I love it!

Love the singing men, although I'm not entirely familiar with Savage Garden. And you look like a really cool granny.

I'm sayin' I don't see 'grandma' when I look in the mirror yet I have eight. Yep, baby count 'em eight. Mine call me Grandma Muzzie all 'cause Hubby calls me Nezzy and that's just the way it came out. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!! Heeehehehe. You are a beautiful grandma, mother of the bride and person. The wedding pics are just fabulous.

May your day be filled with blessings from above!!!

'The shower runs in terror when I hop in.'

Piece of advice. If you want your readers to devour the whole post, avoid very, very, very funny jokes at the beginning. I almost collapsed with laughter, which would have been funny as I wouldn't have been able to tell you that both your daughters took after your nose, which happens to be a unique piece of art. I loved this post. It cracked me up completely. Many thanks for those clips, too.

Greetings from London.

Don't sweat it, singing is overrated. Tap dancing or juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle, now that's unique and would really impress the g-kids.

Ha! I can't sing either but I do it anyways!

You are so funny, I love your random posts. :) I gave you an award on over at my place, so come collect when you get a chance!
